RC-4 is a safe, water-soluble, and liquid concentrated cleaner specifically formulated for surface equipment clean-up of synthetic drilling muds. This unique cleaner will completely emulsify and remove synthetic muds, leaving surfaces water-wet with no oily film or residue. RC-4 is formulated with environmentally friendly surfactants and may safely be used on painted surfaces, plastics, fabrics, metals, etc.

  • Treated surfaces easily rinse clean with no ‘gunking’ or ‘balling’ effects and leaves no residual film when used properly.
  • RC-4 is formulated to be environmentally friendly. It is biodegradable, non-flammable, non-corrosive, non-toxic, and non-hazardous.
  • RC-4 is safe to human health and contains no butyl, aliphatic, or aromatic solvents, abrasives, caustic soda, or chlorinated hydrocarbons.


  • RC-4 is highly concentrated and may be diluted many times depending on the synthetic mud condition.
  • RC-4 may be used as a general purpose cleaner and rig wash. RC-4 is safe for use on painted surfaces, metals, plastics, etc.
  • RC-4 is safe to fabrics and may be used in the laundry to clean muddy work clothes.

Direction for Surface Synthetic Mud Clean Up

Apply RC-4 cleaning solution to soiled surface by spraying, pouring, or brushing. If possible scrub the surface with brushes and/or brooms. Let the cleaning solution sit for three to ten minutes to allow for penetration, but not so long as to let the soiled surface “dry out”. Hose off with water under pressure. Do not apply water to the soiled surface before the application of the cleaning solution. The concentration of RC-4 to water depends on the severity of the surface to be cleaned, including synthetic mud condition, age, thickness, and other possible contaminates, as well as the type of surface that is soiled.
